At Alliance Dental, our patients sometimes express an interest in orthodontics in order to achieve a more beautiful smile, but feel restricted by the hardware involved in traditional braces. For older teens and adults, Invisalign provides an alternative to brackets and wires that our patients really appreciate.
Versatile Treatment Options with Invisalign
Not only does Invisalign offer solutions for a more beautiful smile, but it also addresses some of the most common orthodontic health issues from misalignment of your teeth.
Conditions such as overbite, under bite, overcrowding, and overlapping can all be addressed with Invisalign orthodontic treatment in both older teens and adults without the hassles that come from wearing brackets and wires for months or even years.
How Invisalign Works
Because it is a highly innovative system, Invisalign gently and gradually moves your teeth over time into an ideal position. We first examine your orthodontic needs to find out if Invisalign is a good option for you. Next, we take impressions of your teeth, digital x-rays, photographs, and diagnostic images to create your treatment plan.
We then send the information to our trusted Invisalign lab, where they will design a series of clear plastic aligner trays. You will wear each set of trays for approximately two weeks before changing them out for new trays. Each set brings you closer to a straighter, more beautiful, and more comfortable smile.
During your treatment, we will monitor your progress closely to make sure you have the best end result. You must wear your aligner trays for at least 22 hours each day to make sure your progress is efficient and stays on track.
Once your treatment is complete, you will be required to wear an orthodontic retainer to help your teeth stay in the correct position. Teeth have a tendency to drift, especially right after treatment.
Benefits of Invisalign
Because Invisalign aligner trays are completely clear, you will be able to keep your treatment discreet. It will not affect your smile for photographs, and even when you wear them all day, no one will likely notice them.
Since Invisalign is removable, brushing and flossing your teeth is easy! Oral hygiene is important. Bracket-and-wire orthodontics makes keeping your teeth clean challenging during treatment.
Because Invisalign is made of smooth plastic, it will not irritate the sensitive lining inside your cheeks. That means no need for orthodontic wax to protect sore tissue.
The snug fit of Invisalign makes it easy to speak normally. You won't have to worry about sounding different when you talk.
No more painful "tightening" appointments! Invisalign uses continuous low force to gently move your teeth. You won't have to worry about not being able to speak or chew after an adjustment. The movement is gradual and more comfortable than traditional orthodontics.
